The Hummingbird's playability is outstanding, thanks to a rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges for an extremely comfortable in-the-hand feel. Naturally, it all looks just as sweet as it sounds and plays. Hand-sprayed in a nitrocellulose Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish, the Hummingbird sports a double-ring, multi-ply soundhole rosette; distinctive mother-of-pearl split-parallelogram fingerboard inlays; multi-ply body top and back binding; and the iconic engraved, multi-point Hummingbird pickguard. Couched in a plush blue-lined Gibson hardshell case, accompanied by full Owners Manual and adjustment literature.
The Gibson Hummingbird's mahogany body and quality Sitka spruce top provides the opportunity for you rhythmic rock and roll players. Its diverse range of deep lows down the neck when strumming those big chords can rise up to sweet lead lines at the top of the fretboard.
In 1960, the Hummingbird was introduced as Gibson's first square-shouldered dreadnought and became in use by acclaimed musicians such as Keith Richards and Gram Parsons. Whether it was rock, country or folk, this guitar became significant in the 60s with its crossover appeal.
