Richie Kotzen’s Stratocaster features a solid ash wood body with a flamed maple top to deliver a classic Fender twang with sweet, airy tones. The flamed maple top adds some bright characteristics to the guitars tone, while creating a visually stunning and unique aesthetic. The lightweight ash provides the guitar with excellent resonance and sustain, offering firm lows, pleasing highs, and a scooped midrange. The Fender also features a vintage-style synchronised to provide incredible string stability while offering the ability to create excellent pitch bends.
When designing the Strat, Richie Kotzen decided to give it a thick ‘C’ neck profile, preferring a thicker neck to the standard. The thicker neck still manages to offer a comfortably smooth play, delivering bright tones that add tightness and cut to the guitars sound. The rosewood fingerboard helps to ‘fur up’ the maples natural tone, providing the Fender with sizzling highs, firm lows, and a snappy attack in the midrange. Gotoh tuners are used on the guitar, offering incredible tuning stability while also providing quick string changes to keep you playing for as long as possible.
When it came to the pickups, the Fender guitar required something that would complement the natural tones whilst providing enough power to satisfy Richie Sotzen’s playing style. Dimarzio built some custom single coil pickups that would offer enough power without taking away for the guitars clarity. The two tone controls and 5 way selector provide the guitar with a range of tonal possibilities, allowing the pickups to play a wide selection of musical styles, creating an incredibly versatile guitar.
Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut the FSR American Standard Telecaster delivers an increased resonance and brighter tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq materials used to construct guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
The Stratocaster is one of the world's most popular guitars and is an elegantly versatile creation that has a musical and cultural touchstone. Not long after Fender revolutionised music with the Telecaster and the Precision Bass, in 1954 they debuted the Stratocaster where it quickly became universally regarded as the archetypal electric guitar. Sleek and stylish aesthetics, smooth playing and tonally versatile, at the heart the Stratocaster remains a fantastic instrument - producing unmistakable sound with a timeless design. A first choice among players worldwide, there is simply nothing that sings, screams, whispers, moans, roars, rocks and rolls like a Fender Stratocaster.
Fender Japan was established as a way for Fender to market their guitars to the Japanese market, allowing for the creation of low cost Fender guitars that still possess the high expectations and build quality of their American counterparts. Japan is often considered to be one of the leading places in the world for guitar manufacturing, although most of the guitars produced are not sold in the UK the FSR models allow you to purchase an exceptionally high quality and unique guitar.
