The 916ce has a full sized Grand Symphony body with a softly rounded Venetian cutaway. Slightly larger and more curved than Taylor's signature Grand Auditorium body shape, the dynamic Grand Symphony shape delivers a bold, versatile tone with excellent sustain, perfect for strumming and flatpicking, but also responsive to light fingerstyle playing. The solid Rosewood body and solid Sitka Spruce top add warmth and richness to the guitar's sound, providing the 916ce with clarity and definition across the tonal spectrum, with an especially sweet midrange.
All models feature the same package of tone-enhancing refinements introduced on the 800 Series: customized bracing and wood thicknesses for each body shape; protein glues for the bracing and bridge; thin (3.5 mil) gloss finish; Elixir HD Light strings on Grand Auditorium models. Both models feature a Venetian cutaway, ES2 electronics, and ship in a Taylor deluxe hardshell case.
All 900 series Taylor guitar feature the new 'CV' bracing pattern, which allows the solid Sitka Spruce top to vibrate and resonate much more than standard bracing patterns. The result is an impressive level of tonal richness and projection. This new bracing is only available on guitars in the 800 series or above, reserved for some of the most premium instruments that Taylor produce.
For ultimate playability and peace of mind, all 900 series guitars feature Taylor's unique NT neck design. The NT neck was designed to give players a straighter, more stable guitar neck, resistant to common problems such as changes in humidity. The neck sits in a custom fit pocket along with laser-cut spacers. There's a perfect neck angle for each Taylor guitar, and these precision spacers create it. Best of all, because there is no glue used in the NT neck design, maintenance and adjustments can be made by trained technicians in a matter of minutes.
The Taylor Expression System 2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor's ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the ES2 is Taylor's proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor's custom designed ''professional audio''-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.
