The British Drum Co. 14 x 5.5'' Merlin Snare Drum is constructed from a full-bodied 20ply, 10.5mm thick shell, crafted from a perfect blend of Maple and Birch, providing a clean and clear sound that works well in both high and low tunings.
The key to the British Drum Company’s signature sound is the cold press moulding process. The shells are left to naturally acclimatise to the surrounding environment, both before and after being moulded. This provides the perfect shape.
High-quality hardware
The Merlin snares are fitted with the new palladium snare lug, providing exceptional durability and reliability. These snares are also fitted with a traditional British snare strainer and snare straps, which help provide a smoother on-off action.
All of the hoops fitted to the snare are 2.3mm triple flanged – providing a more responsive feel. All of the tension rods are fitted with a 3mm thick black nylon washer, aiding smoother tuning and reducing the chance of de-tuning.
Hand-cut 45-degree smooth bearing edges enhance the tonal characteristics of the Merlin snare and help to produce a consistent sound from the drum.
