The cross-over maple and cherry shell provides the Ludwig NeuSonic kit with a unique voice that thrives in any playing style or environment. The maple exterior offers an all-purpose tone with the great durability and aesthetics that maple offers. The cherry interior provides boosted highs, punchy mid-range and an average low end. This combination results in an extremely versatile, bright and sensitive tone – a pleasure to play for any drummer.
45 Degree bearing edge for a brighter sound
The 45-degree bearing edge is a very common cut, featuring a sharp 1-ply thick edge close to the outside of the shell. Sharper bearing edges tend to produce more attack and sustain. This generally results in a more lively, modern sound. This is due to there being less contact between the drumhead film and the shell itself.
A sharp, 45-degree also produces considerably more harmonic overtones, leading to a brighter sounding drum.
Radio Frequency Technology to achieve the 'Ludwig Sound'
All Ludwig USA shells are produced using Radio Frequency Technology to increase stability throughout the drum. The RFT's unique bonding system combined with a specialised adhesive cures each shell evenly over the entire surface of the shell. This process is the secret ingredient in achieving the “Ludwig Sound”.
