The Vic Firth American Classic 3AN Drumsticks, Nylon Tip are ideal for the harder-hitting drummer who is looking for a brighter tone. Sat between a 5A and a 5B in diameter, they are a great stepping stone into wider sticks. The sticks are 3/16'' longer than your Classic 5A, which, when paired with its shorter taper, produces a forward-weighted, heavy feeling stick. Ideal for rock, light-rock and fusion, this stick lets you be heard.
The injection moulded Barrel Nylon tip doesn't move - not even with the hardest of hitters. Producing an enhanced, articulate smack on drums and a glowing ping on cymbals, you cut across a dense mix like butter and project to the back of the room. Preferred by session musicians for a reason, Nylon tips enhance your tone.

The Vic Firth American Classic 3AN Hickory Drumsticks are wider than a 5A but thinner than a 5B, with added length to make a well-balanced, durable and all-round appropriate pair of drumsticks. These versatile drumsticks can be held in the middle to play quietly whereas the length of the stick can be used for heavier and louder playing. Despite the length of the 3A drumsticks, they are surprisingly balanced and allow for fast playing.
Vic Firth was the first manufacturer to offer nylon tips, allowing drummers to switch between a rich sounding wood stick and the satisfying feel and balance of nylon. By fusing the nylon with the wood, the tips are guaranteed not to chip, therefore adding great durability to the drumsticks. A perfect choice for any heavy hitting drummer.
The injection process makes it possible to create complex, precision shapes which match the wood tip counterparts exactly, providing the perfect teardrop shape of a standard wood drumstick.
These nylon tips have a more defined and consistent sound than a wooden tip drumstick. This is because the nylon tip does not chip or change shape, providing a smooth, equal surface all the way around. These tips provide a louder, higher pitched cymbal sound and offer more dynamic freedom when playing on a ride cymbal.
There's more in the tip than you would think. Vic Firth's barrel tip is perfectly proportioned to give you the utmost accuracy in feel and tone. It was designed by cutting off and rounding the original American Classic 5A tip. The length taken off was then added to the butt end of the stick to retain the exact dimensions all 5A users are accustomed to. The result is supreme clarity, beautiful tone, and great playability.
American Classic Hickory Drumsticks are a combination of traditional and Vic Firth style. They show off bold designs and are made from hickory, which is a dense wood with little flex for a more pronounced sound. Hickory is also great at dealing with shock, making it extremely durable.
