The Leslie rotary effect was original created for electric organs to better emulate a pipe or theatre organ. This was achieved by using a speaker with a rotating drum and horn to create that classic 'tremolo' effect. After it gain popularity, many manufactures started offering an emulation of that effect in a pedal format. These were used by notable guitarists, including Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Robin Trower.
Neo Instruments' Mini Vent II recreates this classic effect in a compact and easy to use stompbox. It provides you with two different speed settings, letting you go for a fast, tremolo-like effect to a slower choral soundscape. The Mini Vent is also equipped with a stereo output, letting connect with two speakers to create a more immersive performance.
The Rotary Pedal also features true bypass switching. This ensures your guitar's signal remains intact and unaffected when the pedal is disengaged or even switched. No matter what, you sound will always be crisp and clean.
While the Mini Vent 2 might only consist of two footswitches, you still have control over four internal settings to give your tone a personal touch. Simply hold down the slow/fast footswitch upon start up and you'll enter the pedal's edit routine. From there, you can edit the speed and balance of the bass and treble rotors.
You can also set the level of distortion the effect has, which is perfect if you want to inject a little grit to your sound. You can also set the distance between the virtual mic and the rotors, letting you create a spacious feeling.
You can also change the functions of the footswitches to better suit your playing style if need be. Once you've found your ideal settings, then you can save them to either the A or B slot - ready for you to recall them at any time.
What's great about the Mini Vent is that its suitable for both guitarist and keyboard players. When in the pedal's edit routine, you can switch its cab simulation on or off, letting you optimise the pedal for either the guitar or keyboard.
You also have access to the input's gain via an internal DIP switch. This lets you switch from high gain to low gain, letting you use instruments with a hot output - like guitars equipped with humbuckers. This is also ideal if you hear clipping while playing.
