EQ is an invaluable tool in any mixing arsenal that can be used for correcting any frequency deficiencies such as removing uncomfortable resonances or to boost the tones that compliment the instrument or mix you're working on. This is usually a fairly detailed process that requires a lot of switching between soloed tracks, hearing it in context and bypassing changes to hear the differences you're applying. Multiply that by the number of tracks that are in your project and EQ can take up a lot of time in your mix process. Well, Sonible has made that process a little bit easier with Smart:EQ 3.

At the click of a button you'll be able to apply suggested EQ settings all picked out by the AI that is at the heart of Smart:EQ 3. And that isn't just for your individual tracks, it is also possible to apply that to group channels with up to 6 different tracks so you can remove the mud and give every aspect of your mix the space it needs to shine. The smart cross-channel processing will correct any clashing frequencies with a hierarchy of your choosing to prioritise what matters most. Most importantly you can tweak and change any of the parameters set by the plugin so whether you're looking for a quick fix or you want to use it as a guide to get you started, Smart:EQ 3 will have you up and running in no time.

Clean and intuitive design

Sonible have designed Smart:EQ to be usable no matter your skill level so whether you're working from your small home studio setup or in the world's most revered studio spaces, Smart:EQ will appeal to you. Its elegant and visceral design means you'll be able to find your way around its interface in no time and navigation will soon become second nature especially with the help of the bespoke Smart:EQ widget. Filtering and the relevant parameters are based at the bottom of the interface however for quick detail changes on the fly, a right-click on a filter line brings up the filter widget which enables you to change the type of filter and the respective parameters in an instant, perfect for changes in real-time.

Easy to access Profiles are always available which can be used to give the EQ a heads up on what type of signal you are inputting, this ensures a more focussed processing level. Smart:EQ comes well equipped to handle most input signals you can throw at it however, you can always tweak current and save your own presets to make the experience unique and ready every time you load up the plugin.

Stereo or M/S processing

Modern EQ plugins often offer extended functionality in the form of mid/side processing. Generally, EQ and dynamic adjustment are done in mono or stereo but that doesn't fully account for the way the human ear hears a stereo image and that is where M/S processing steps in to split one process into two, with mid and side channels separated. This creates more spacially aware mixes and in the case of EQ, can add some extra clarity and give a complete spectral tone produced across the full stereo field. Smart:EQ 3 offers this type of processing and it couldn't be easier to dial the settings you want to achieve a clear and transparent sound from your EQ with features like the M/S balance slider that will enable you to be able to freely adjust the relation of the mid and side signals in the stereo field so you can tighten up mixes or create some extra space in your tracks.
