Key Features
The JST Bus Glue Joel Wanasek Bundle is a suite of six purpose-engineered bus compressor plug-ins, designed to work with specific instruments in your mixes. Built to the exacting standards of industry professional mixing engineer, Joel Wanasek, the Bus Glue encompasses independent compressors for drums, bass, guitars, vocals, keys and finally the full mix. Designed with speed in mind, Bus Glue Joel Wanasek helps you tame the dynamics and enhance the sonic character of individual instrument groups in a mix, letting you focus on the important creative parts of a mix. Taking care of the left brain engineering like the ratio, attack and release times of your compression, the Bus Glue series lets you concentrate on bringing your mix to life with EQ, automation and much more.
Encompassing everything you need when compressing in a mix, each plug-in is entirely unique and features sonic enhancement tools designed to complement each plug-in. Bus Glue Bass even includes distortion algorithms, ensuring you don't need to use any external third-party plugins. All of this is included in a streamlined and intuitive interface. Providing only what you need and leaving out the rest where each knob does exactly as you'd expect, getting great compression tones is made easier than ever.

Whether keys are at the forefront of the composition or used to enhance other instruments, they can be difficult to mix properly. BG - Keys give them the extra push and lift they need to find their own space in a mix. Built with limiting, parallel saturation and compression, BG - Keys helps to soften the transients of your keys, widen them and help to give them the "glue" and excitement they need to blend seamlessly into your mix.
Vocals are the most crucial aspect of any production. It's the part people listen to the most and the Vocals are often the most dynamic instrument a mix and can be the most tricky to tame. Take control over your singer's vocal dynamics and tone, giving it the extra aggressive push it needs all in one solution.
Powered with a basic limiter to pin down your vocals to one consistent level, BG - Vocals puts the vocals in the front of your mix, making them stand out more aggressively. It's not just a limiter, it also has two circuits that can be engaged for extra dynamics and tonal shaping. The "Aggro" circuit dials in parallel saturation, specifically tuned for vocals to give them a push in the mix - this is ideal for aggressive metal vocals or modern pop vocals to help cut through dense mixes. Additionally, a "Tone" circuit is onboard, working like a multi-band compressor with a particular EQ curve. This is to tame any frequency-dependent dynamics that occur when singing throughout the ranges. Multi-band compression is used as it helps to maintain the EQ shape of the vocal whilst clamping down on frequency-dependent resonances.
Recording a DI bass is the industry standard. It allows for reamping of your tone in the future to help find the right tone for your mix. The Bus Glue Bass takes a raw D.I bass sound and turns it into a production-ready tone in one single plug-in. BG - Bass is the ultimate tool for getting that signature consistent and powerful low-end that interplays with your kick drum to perfection. You don't even need to use amplifier simulation on your bass D.I. track to get a production-ready tone. Designed to work with a D.I. signal, it has three built-in distortion tones tailored for rock and metal bass production. Of course, you can get even more distortion out of your bass by aggressively pulling the limiter thresholds down should you ever need it!
Easily control the dynamics of both your high frequencies and low frequencies independently with two built-in limiters. This is ideal for a bass guitar as it means that you can achieve a consistent low end regardless of what note is hit across the fretboard. In one simple switch, you can shift the bass fundamental frequency above or below the kick drum. Perfect for balancing the low-end between a subby or tight kick drum to ensure they are not competing for the same space.
Get your drums to pop out of the speakers with BG - Drums. Enhance the groove and energy of your drums whilst delivering the flexibility to fit with any mix style. Comprised of analog-modelled circuitry, BG - Drums have been tested on a huge range of drum styles to maximise compatibility. Coming included with two modes on a switchable button, Pumpin' mode is modelled after a Roll Music Super Stereo compressor. This mode is extremely punchy, and open and has a lot of 'slam' to it, making it extremely useful for slower tempos of music with more space in between the transients including EDM or rock music.
Standard is based on a software Pie-style compressor with a few modifications. Designed to sound 'splatty', standard can be used on most things in a mix and is perfectly suitable when you want a huge, smashing and aggressive sound. With auto-gain makeup compensation, no matter how aggressively you compress, the volume will remain consistent to only hear the effects of the compression and not any volume changes.
Guitars present a unique problem in a mix, especially if they are distorted. The broadband, noisy nature of distorted guitars eats up headroom in your mix and can be difficult to lock in with other instrumentation. Fortunately, BG - Guitars can help tame dynamics and low-end to create a cohesive sound easily. Designed to create more headroom in your mix, BG - Guitars features a built-in limiter to keep your dynamics in check, making EQing and creative aspects easier to help gel in your mix.
Designed specifically for heavily distorted rock or metal guitar riffing, the "Chugg Slayer" circuit encompasses intelligent multi-band compression. This helps to tame the low-end 'bloom' you hear when palm muting heavily distorted guitars, keeping the low-end even and in control to not eat up the vital headroom in your mix.
Most mixing engineers aren't also mastering engineers. A true dark art of the audio engineering world, mastering takes technical skill and understanding to get the best-sounding, punchy and consistent masters which compete with commercial releases. BG - Mix takes years of mastering experience and condenses it down into a streamlined plug-in to get instant results, adding the finished feel of your recordings. Packed with a huge amount of analog modelling under the hood, BG - Mix is a compressor with auto make-up gain and multiple transformer-modelled options. An SSL-style compressor, it has fixed attack and release times, meaning all you need to worry about is the threshold level.
The transformer section is modelled after a 1/50 Shadow Hills mastering compressor, modelling the Steel, Iron and Nickel-style transformer models. Steel is a saturated and open-sounding mode with a bump in the extreme lows for punch. Iron is a tighter and more focussed sounding transformer with more "glue" and a wider stereo image. Nickel is an articulate and airy-sounding model with a boost in the top frequencies.
The #NOSMALLTIME button provides a one-button switch to add professional polish and depth to your sound. Under the hood, there are bass harmonics for added depth, tape-style saturation, EQ, mid-side EQ and stereo enhancement, all of which have been meticulously designed to fit virtually every mix.
