The Crashguard is designed to isolate your drum microphones, reducing bleed from nearby cymbals to make more accurate and isolated mixes than ever before. Once set up, you can accurately capture the sound of your drum shell with no colouration, letting you make mixing adjustments such as adding a high-shelf EQ that won't accentuate the sound of nearby cymbals. It's important to note that the Crashguard will heavily attenuate nearby cymbal volume however it will not completely eliminate it. This helps to preserve the depth and realism you get from recording acoustic drums in a studio.
As high-frequency waveforms are more directive than low-frequency waves, it's easier to predict how they will move. The Crashguard has been designed with side-facing acoustic foam to ensure that the directivity of your cymbals won't hit your microphone capsule.
