Normally straight, the baffle has been altered to boost projection and allow more nuance in articulation. D'Addario's revolutionary ramp and bore taper also create a fuller and more centred tone.
Part of the great sound quality comes from how it's made. Rather than using a mould, D'Addario Reserve mouthpieces are made using a computer-controlled milling machine. This ensures superior precision in the construction and design as well as fantastic consistency between pieces. A marbling pattern has been introduced during the formulation of the hard rubber, this not only makes each mouthpiece look unique, but it also brightens the tone slightly.
